Glen Hanlon has been fired as Slovakia coach after the team's poor performance at the ice hockey world championship. The Slovak Ice Hockey Federation said Wednesday that its executive committee voted 7-2 to dismiss Hanlon. Freiburg signs Slovakia forward Jendrisek
Freiburg has signed Slovakia forward Erik Jendrisek from Bundesliga rival Schalke. Freiburg gave no details Thursday of the 24-year-old's contract. Jendrisek has scored 34 goals in 102 matches in Germany's first and second divisions. Freiburg coach Robin Dutt says he values Jendrisek for "his speed and good left foot."
